David Rivers on mentoring youngsters in Eurohoops Showcase: “It is my purpose”

Sitting down with Eurohoops, David Rivers discussed partnering with Eurohoops and recalled his own career from the early years in the NBA to establishing himself as a legend in Europe.
Rivers, 58, was especially proud of enjoying the youngsters playing at Eurohoops Dome and sharing his advice during Eurohoops Showcase.
“I could be having a horrible day in the office with my other corporate interest, but as a teacher, as a mentor, when I am in this type of environment, it is my purpose,” he told Eurohoops, “It is always a wonderful feeling.”
During the recent event in the state-of-the-art facilities in Eurohoops Dome, EuroLeague Legend and Eurohoops Showcase host Theo Papaloukas officially formed Eurohoops Colleges aiming to connect upstarts from all around the world to basketball and academic opportunities in the USA.
“Global sports and educational academy partners just seem to make sense,”noted Rivers.
“The method by which young student-athletes feel like they can get to the highest levels has changed. The mentality, from the standpoint of focusing on core fundamentals as a foundation, we kind have gotten away from that a little bit,” he added on the different approach of the latest batch of players seeking a basketball career.
